| Description of The English Language Program |
The English Language Program is an eight-level program designed to assist students in developing all four-language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The methodology utilized to achieve this aim is dynamic and via
full contact . That is, the student is exposed to a variety of resources: video, audio, CD Rom and Internet in order to facilitate as much language immersion as possible. Students wishing to enter North American universities may also register in the program in order to further hone the more academic skills (reading and writing). We also offer the following courses: English courses for Young adults ages 11-16, Business and Tourism & Hospitality as well as SAT, GMAT, IELTS, GRE and TOEFL preparation courses.
Placement Test:
In order to better determine our student's needs, each prospective student must take our ESL placement test. This test is completely free and can be taken right here at Brookdale from Monday to Thursday from 9:00am to 7:00pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 4:45pm. The results of the test will be available the following day.
TOEFL Exam :
Brookdale College is the official TOEFL Testing Center for the coast of Ecuador. Students can register to take the TOEFL EXAM online by visiting the TOEFL webpage (www.toefl.org). You will need the Brookdale testing Code which is R303. The Students should choose the "Online Registration for Paper-Based TOEFL Option".

The adult English Program has two schedules: a morning schedule Tuesday to Thursday from
7:10 am to 9:00am. And an evening schedule Tuesday to Thursday from
7:10pm to 9:00 pm.
Each level has duration of 37 hours on a seven-week basis.
The cost of each level is $120.

Each level has a duration of 30 hours on a 5week basis.
The cost of each level is $100.

Specialized courses:
TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, SAT, Business English and Tourism each have a duration of 35 hours.
The cost of each of these courses is $180.
The BCC/UF Language Center Instructors:
All of our Language Instructors have some kind of degree in either education or teaching English a second language. The majority of our instructors are either North American or have lived in the United States for an extended period of time. We are proud of our professional, dedicated and friendly instructors.

- How many levels of English does the program have?
There are eight levels: Beginners I andII, Intermediate I and II, Advanced I and II Conversation and Composition.
- How much does each level cost?
For adults $120 for each seven week cycle and for Young Adults (ages 11-16) $100 for every five week cycle.
- Is the Placement Test Mandatory?
While the placement test is not mandatory, it is certainly highly recommended. It will help us to place the student in the correct level and improve their language skills. This test is free and can be taken from Mon to Thurs from 9am to 7pm and Friday from 9am to 4:45pm.
- What is the schedule of the English classes?
For adult learners we have two schedules: in the evening from 7:10pm to 9:00pm Tues to Thurs and in the morning from 7:10am to 9:00am from Tues to Thurs.
For our Teens classes are from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tues to Thurs.
- Are there any kinds of payment plans?
Yes. You can pay half of the cost of the course when you register and the other half the third week of class.
- Do the ESL classes count as university credits?
No, they don't. After successfully completing each level of English the student will receive a diploma indicating that they have passed to the next level. For those interested in entering BCC college
- Are the instructors North American?
About 90% of our instructors are from the United States and those who are not have lived in an English speaking country for an extended period of time.
- What is the maximum number of students per class?
We believe in giving close personal one on one attention to our students in order to satisfy their learning needs. The maximum number of students is 15 with an average per class of 10.
- Do you have a computer lab?
Yes we do. This lab is fully equipped with high-speed Internet connection 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Each computer also has headphones so that students may practice their listening skills.
- What kind of methodology is used?
The methodology used here at the BCC-UF Language Center is called communicative. We help our students improve in the four main areas of language learning which are reading, grammar, writing, but we put more emphasis on speaking. We understand that being able to maintain a conversation in a foreign language is not an easy task and one that can be dominated through constant conversation in class and simulated real life situations.
- What didactic material is used?
We use the latest textbooks available, in addition to audiovisual aids.
